Who is Dixie Kong?

Thank you Puff for donating this wonderful section!

Games
Dixie first appeared in 1995 with Nintendo’s release Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest on the Super NES system. Kaptain K. Rool (also known as King K. Rool) leaves a note in Diddy’s cabin saying that his dear friend Donkey Kong was in his clutches. He leaves with Dixie to Crocidile Isle to find the gorilla, defeating pirate-like baddies along the way. The two defeat the fiend, but the Kaptain only appeared to be beaten. The adventure continued in Donkey Kong Land 2 on the 1996 Game Boy game, as the Kremlings once again kidnap Donkey Kong. But K. Rool’s repeated efforts were to no avail, as the duo proved once again victorious!

In Dixie’s next starring adventure, the girl finds herself herself without Diddy and babysitting her cousin, Kiddy Kong. The leader of the Kremlings, Baron K. Roolenstein (a new persona of Kaptain K. Rool), kidnaps both Diddy and Donkey Kong while on a relaxing vacation. Dixie and Kiddy investigate their disappearance and free the two from Roolenstein’s clutches, who was using the captives as brains for a giant cyborg called KAOS. After the liberation, DK and Diddy took off on a contest to be the first ones to discover the Lost World in the 1997 Game Boy game Donkey Kong Land 3. Not asked to join in on the pair’s adventure, disgruntled Dixie decides to partner up with Kiddy and tries to beat them to the punch for the prize and prove that she is as capable as them. Unfortunately, the Kremlings and K. Rool decided to take on this contest as well – But with Dixie and Kiddy there, the two defeat K. Rool in a final showdown, as well as claim victory in the contest.

Most recently, Dixie has appeared as a playable character in Diddy Kong Racing D.S.

Biography
Sporting a bright pink knotted shirt, knee pads and a beret, Dixie Kong is easily indentifiable amoungst the other characters of the Donkey Kong world. Her long blonde hair, worn in pony tail, not only acts as an adorable fashion, it also assists her in her missions. She is able to glide and decend slowly in air (giving her the ability to cross wide gaps), she can whip her tresses as an attack against enemies, and can even lift and throw objects above her head.

Dixie’s past is unknown, as she is one of the only main characters not to have a proper introduction into the game series. She has a sharp ethusisam for adventures and is willing to help out any friend in need. Dixie is also enjoys chewing pink bubble gum and blows bubbles frequently when she is bored. She’s also extremely talented and can play an electric guitar. Her family includes a younger sister, Tiny Kong and cousins Chunky Kong and Kiddy Kong. Her boyfriend, Diddy Kong, is also an avid adventurist.

The Hat
The Donkey Kong character was created by Shigeru Miyamoto in 1981. Though the 1990’s, the British company Rareware helped Nintendo develop the Donkey Kong games, including the DK Country series, Diddy Kong Racing and Donkey Kong 64. The early fans will remember a “Rareware” logo that was pinned on Dixie’s pink beret, which spanded through her starring games DCK2 and DCK3. She currently does not have such logo and was first featured this way in the Dixie likiness trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This is because Microsoft purchased Rareware in September of 2002. Now with a new name, Rare had to strip elements off of the charaters that featured anything regarding a Rare franchise – They even had to strip their current projects from Donkey Kong characters ( such as Diddy Kong Pilot – Whos characters were replaced with Banjo-Kazooie series regulars ). But with the 2004 GameBoy Advance port of Donkey Kong Country 2, Nintendo and Rare established a working relationship with eachother to bring on remolded versions of the Donkey Kong Country games. It’s currently noted that Rare will continue to be involved with Donkey Kong handheld games. Since the DK series was originally developed by Nintendo, Nintendo still has the rights to the characters, thus the DK series can continue! However, Dixie Kong will no longer be seen in the “Rareware” pin.
